Skagit River - Winter Steelhead Flyfishing Schools Feb.
8 or 9 ~ 2008 =======================================================================
Howdy, I hope you are as excited about our up-coming school(s) as we are. We always have lots of fun, as well as being instructional. If you have not secured your position in a class: 1)
email to inquiry specific date availability. Please advise first and second
choice. i.e. Friday, is my first choice but I can also make Sunday, if
Friday is full. Dennis
Dickson, Flyfishing Meeting Place: We will meet a the Howard Miller Steelhead park, in Rockport. (see directions) Time: 8am Itinerary: We will get dressed to fish, (Restrooms available), and start there at the Howard Miller Park put in. If you have a large capacity vehicle, such as minivan or station wagon.......please bring it. It will make the car shuttle easier. Our plan is to Float from the Park downstream to Faber's landing.......depending on water flows. We will have both pontoon and larger rafts for the angler, if you have a boat and want to bring it.....fine, just tell me, so we can plan accordingly. We provide the Streamside Lunch, no extra charge. Plan on plenty of streamside lecture, but of course the learning is in the doing. Angler to guide is 3:1. Expect the first portion of the day to be lecture, explaining the where, when and why's of steelhead behavior and how we approach them, in our fishing. We go over such things as steelhead run timing, understanding steelhead and how they interact to weather lighting and water conditions. How to recognize a steelhead flypool, and other reading the water parameters. The second portion of the day is much demonstration. Teaching anglers how to present and effective fly. How to find and take even a reluctant steelhead into striking, and how to play and land a fish in our steelhead simulation. The third and final segment is the actual application. You fish and the guide critiques. Fair enough? You now qualify for the Members Only in Streamsideflyshop.com To enter Members
Only page: Spring Steelhead Flies: You are not required to buy any for the trip. Instead of going through a whole lot of flies, most anglers buy the Winter Sampler. We have added both string leech and articulates to our fly selection. We have fished with all of them. Awesome! Chest
