Not just another school: After spending the last twenty years, as a Fisheries Biologist and Flyfishing Guide, Dennis and guys are offering again, another innovative approach to flyfishing steelhead, conducted on the river. Consider: Each
class of anglers will learn to read the water and present an effective
fly while they learn the Skagit River. Students will learn the key elements
of defining a flyfishing steelhead pool. Anglers will learn how to read
the "Sweet water," as you will stop at each holding pool along
the way. Dennis & guides will point out the waters that have consistently
held fish year in and year out, how to recognize a new piece of holding
water. Just as importantly, you will learn how to tell when the river
has changed your best pool, into a waste of time. Anglers can take turns on pontoon rafts provided, as you develop the simple skills of rowing the boat, which has revolutionized the market. Nonrower? No problem! You are more than welcome to ride with one of the guides as you are escorted down the river. This class is designed to give you plenty of time to brush up on your casting skills while instructors demo their highly effective Yancy Multi-tip flyline system. You will learn to present your fly effectively, in Dickson's' "Grease line Steelhead Swing." Nobody disagrees with the fact that Dennis & boys methods catch steelhead! The class even includes lecture notes! Anglers will also learn three simple knots that cover everything from replacing a tippet to constructing a steelhead leader. Learning to detect, soft cold water takes, discussed and demonstrated in Dickson's "Steelhead Simulation," many students say, is worth the class, itself. During a hot lunch, the guides will bring out of their deadliest winter steelheading patterns including, Black Bart and the Cop Car. Learn how to buy or build a fly that swims with the action to catch steelhead. One
day class: approximately 8 - 10 hours on the water. Now
