1. Los Lirios (our first choice) Tulum
This is a plush cabana on the beach, 10 minutes from the town of Tulum, on the road to Boca Paila. It is complete with marble floors, air conditioning, bathtub, terrace with hammock and ocean view, and a covered cabana style restaurant with an excellent menu and friendly staff. You can walk for miles on the beach both directions. A spa offers yoga, aromatherapy, meditation, and massages. There is room service and laundry. The staff are English speaking.

3. Ana y Jose Tulum
A very nice cabana experience with lovely surroundings. An outdoor swimming pool is located in the center of the grounds with easy access to the white Caribbean sandy beach that stretches for miles in either direction. A cabana style restaurant and bar is available on the grounds with an excellent menu and friendly staff. This hotel also offers you free use of a small car during your stay. Staff are English speaking.

6. Allegro Resort Playa Del Carmen
The resort consists of 296 rooms contained in two-story Polynesian style thatched roof villas, with eight rooms per villa. There are numerous other cabanas - many very rustic without power, some with generated power for portions of the day, and some with all the services you would expect in a large resort without the crowds. Most are right on the beach. The more rustic ones provide screened cabanas with dirt or cement floors, and mosquito netting over the beds. Linen is provided. Several offer their own covered restaurants and bars. Most of these in the Tulum area are on the dirt road to Boca Paila.
